The opportunity:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of trans and gender diverse youth? The Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service (RCHGS) is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Data Manager to join our pioneering Transgender Health research program. As one of the largest multidisciplinary clinics of its kind globally, we focus on improving healthcare and outcomes for trans children, adolescents, and their families through high-quality research.

This part-time role (15.2 to 22.8 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our Trans20 study, a longitudinal research initiative assessing the biopsychosocial outcomes for young transgender individuals receiving psychosocial support and hormonal interventions. Your expertise will help us gather and analyse critical data that informs clinical practice and enhances patient care.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead Data Processing: Manage and clean Trans20 study data to ensure its usability for research.
  • Data Management: Review and update data dictionaries, linking data collected from various sources including electronic medical records.
  • Collaborative Support: Prepare datasets for researchers and assist in developing materials for reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to the establishment of data checking and monitoring procedures to uphold data integrity.
  • Training and Development: Support project assistants, clinicians, and research students in their data processing skills.
  • Ethical Research Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of integrity in line with national and international research guidelines.

What we need from you:

  • Degree in a quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a data management role or a similar position.
  • Proficiency in research data management processes and tools (e.g., Stata, R).
  • Understanding of the research project lifecycle and data management workflows.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments surrounding clinical research data.
  • Strong initiative and curiosity in data management.
  • Experience with database creation and maintenance (e.g., REDCap, Limesurvey) is desirable.
