Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of transgender youth? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to groundbreaking research that aims to improve the healthcare and wellbeing of transgender children and adolescents.
As a Program Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the research activities of the Australian Research Consortium for Trans Youth and Children (ARCTYC) and the Transgender Health Research Group at MCRI. This includes managing the program of work under the direction of Associate Professor Ken Pang and coordinating communications, research ethics, and research translation activities.
Ideal candidates for this position possess clinical research and project management experience, along with strong people and organisational skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, manage various projects, and adapt to changing demands. Experience in transgender health is valued, while lived experience of gender diversity is desirable.
Recent years have seen a significant increase in referrals of young transgender individuals to specialist gender services. The prevalence of young people identifying as transgender is higher than previously thought, highlighting the critical need for optimal clinical care. Unfortunately, many transgender youth face significant mental health challenges due to lack of access to gender-affirming healthcare. Our team at the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service (RCHGS) and the Transgender Health Research Group at MCRI are dedicated to addressing this need through pioneering research and clinical care.
