The Opportunity

This Senior Project Officer position is focussed on digital content development and content currency for the Raising Children Network (raisingchildren.net.au). Raising Children Network is funded by the Australian government and is overseen by a two-member consortium, comprising MCRI and the Parenting Research Centre (PRC), as well as the Raising Children Network Board of Directors. The network also provides parent-friendly, up-to-date, evidence-based information to a primary audience of Australian parents of babies, children and adolescents, as well as information on pregnancy and birth.

It uses a multi-platform approach to connect parent and professional audiences to its digital content and has a mass audience of new and return visitors. The position also contributes to the overall project via the Raising Children Network team, and includes membership of the Centre for Community Child Health’s Strategy and Impact Unit. Raising Children Network is a high-volume, complex project, with a range of smaller content, web/IT, audio-visual and digital production projects that articulate and contribute to an award-winning resource that enables parents to support their children’s health, development and wellbeing on topics ranging from pregnancy to teenagers. The full Raising Children Network team is dispersed across the MCRI and PRC, with oversight by the Executive Director.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and deliver new and revised content according to Raising Children Network’s rigorous content development protocols, annual activity workplans and contract deliverables
  • Facilitate and lead internal and external meetings/workshops, with limited support, with subject matter experts and senior stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
  • Represent the Raising Children Network and promote and disseminate content customised to specific professional audiences for usage and uptake throughout their networks and professional practice
  • Contribute to the goals of embedding raisingchildren.net.au into the professional practice of key professionals and partner organisations that support the health, development and wellbeing of children and families
  • Engage in the campus culture including professional development activities and attending internal/external campus conferences and seminars
  • Is aware of, and adheres to, MCRI policy on Intellectual Property/Material Transfer Agreements/Contracts/Clinical and Public Health Outcomes

You Demonstrate:

Essential:

  • Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in relevant field (e.g. psychology, nursing, disability, public health) plus an appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation
  • At least 5 to 10 years of experience in child and family health and support, disability, social sciences, parenting or related field
  • A strong track record in working successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic working environment with open communication and collaborative problem solving
  • Strong project management skills including project scoping, monitoring and working to tight timelines, balancing competing priorities, planning and implementing a systematic approach to work
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of the goals of embedding evidence-based resources into the professional practice of key professionals and partner organisations that support the health, development and wellbeing of children and families
  • Demonstrated understanding of current issues and challenges for health and education professionals who support the health, development and wellbeing of children and families
  • Experienced in preparation of high quality reports and presentations for senior audiences and stakeholders
  • Be a highly motivated, solution-focused person, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently without constant supervision, as well as reporting up to senior management

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the key challenges facing parents raising children in Australia, and knowledge of peak support organisations related to families and children
  • Experienced in supervision and mentoring of junior staff
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Melbourne Children’s Campus and wider research and peer-reviewed literature relevant to infant/child/adolescent development, health and wellbeing

On Offer:

  • 2-year Part Time contract
  • Salary Range $96,527 - $104,489 per annum (pro rata) + super + salary packaging
