The Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) is a national for purpose organisation. Its purpose is to reduce the incidence and impact of macular disease – the leading cause of legal blindness and severe vision loss in Australia. MDFA is in the process of transformation and growth to expand its reach to benefit more Australians living with or at risk of eye diseases that affect the macula.

About this role

The Administration Officer is a pivotal role providing first level service to our inbound callers and ensuring the smooth functioning of our small but busy office. Duties include:

  • Managing inbound communication from the public and our community, such as phone calls, email and mail, including related data entry
  • Monitor and manage stock for information and publications, including placing orders on behalf of customers, liaising with the printer/mailhouse and monitoring stock levels for reordering
  • Organising couriers, archiving, stationery, office supplies, and anything else required to ensure a well-functioning office
  • Coordinate volunteer activities and provide supervision when they are on site
  • Support Corporate Services with daily banking, monthly reconciliations, invoice entry into MYOB and general data entry
  • Support the Executive Assistant during busy periods and provide support for other relevant tasks right across the business

About you

Essential requirements

  • Preferably at least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and willing and able to learn other applications
  • Excellent customer service skills with compassion to handle phone calls with elderly and/or vulnerable people
  • Proactive and motivated with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently as well as within small team, including volunteers

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of MYOB or other accounting software
  • Experience working with volunteers
