Melbourne East Disability Advocacy (MEDA) is a community based organisation in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Founded on compassion and respect MEDA protects and promotes the rights of people with intellectual disability through our Individual, Systemic and Volunteer Citizen Advocacy programs.

about the role

The Disability Advocate is part of a small team providing quality individual advocacy alongside people with intellectual disability. The role also supports the organisations work and commitment to our systemic and volunteer citizen advocacy programs and our important advocacy work supporting people to have a say at the Disability Royal Commission.

This position is part time - 14hrs / week fixed term until end June 2023. SCHADS Award Level 4 ppt 3.

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of advocacy, the disability & community services sector
  • Experience as an advocate desirable
  • An understanding of the NDIS desirable
  • Strong organisational skills
