Melbourne City Mission (MCM) is a leading support organisation working alongside people to live the life they aspire to, their way, providing a broad range of support in homelessness, Early Years, Disability, Palliative Care, Early Childhood Intervention Services and Educations service areas. The MCM Early Years Hub in Brunswick is a Long Day care centre that focuses on making a difference in young children’s lives and within the community. The Centre caters for 126 places across 6 rooms and has experienced and passionate Early Childhood Educators who are passionate about providing innovative quality learning programs ensuring the prime focus is on the children’s wellbeing, education and health.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Lead Educator to join our friendly team. We are seeking an experienced Lead Educator who possess a willingness to mentor and lead our Co Educators to help drive and build our outstanding learning environment for our children, whilst maintaining strong working relationships with your team members and families within the Centre.

As a Lead Educator, you will be responsible for leading a team of educators to implement a creative educational and culturally appropriate program that meets the requirements of the National Quality Framework and the National State curriculum framework. You will be experienced in using online platforms to document children’s learning and development. You will work in conjunction with other team members to support the learning, development and physical and emotional needs of the children as they participate in the program. You will be a valued team member who strives to establish respectful relationships with both the families, the community and your colleagues. Your day to day focus will include assisting with the planning and implementation of a creative educational and culturally appropriate program which actively engages the children. As an enthusiastic, warming and reliable Lead Educator, you will ensure that all interactions with the children are positive, respectful and friendly and you will strive to build and maintain respectful working relationships with both the children and the families of the community. Your role as Lead Educator will be responsible for the guidance and coaching of other Co Educators with the room.

As an experienced Lead Educator, you will be required to Lead, mentor, coach a team of highly skilled educators.

As an integral part of a collaborative team, you will hold a strong enthusiasm to create and teach positive learning experiences, by implementing and evaluating educational programs.

Being a team player, you will have the ability to work within a team successfully.

You will support the children and fellow team members by encouraging and participating in the learning and development through the principals, practices and outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.

Be truly valued by your colleagues, parents and most importantly the children in your care by playing an important and instrumental role with educating and caring for them.

The successful applicant must hold

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent qualification as approved by ACECQA
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Current first aid certificates HLTAID012
  • COVID -19 Vaccination
