About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our team.

The Youth Housing Initiative (YHI) is a new innovation project based in Western metropolitan Melbourne, providing long term support to young people who have experienced homelessness.

The Therapeutic Practitioner provides key mental health and wellbeing supports to the young people directly and secondary consultation to the YHI team, parents and the community.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver mental health and wellbeing supports to young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young people who present with a wide range of behaviours, design and deliver personalised care plans and strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating high quality programs and services.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant services and systems available to young people in the Western Melbourne region.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or recognised Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with AASW
  • Demonstrated experience working within a case management framework with young people with complex support needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
  • Strong passion for working with people and ability to engage young people actively and assertively with complex needs.
  • Experience in providing supportive counselling and case work for young people with complex needs including mental health and AOD.
  • Understanding or experience working with young people at risk of experiencing homelessness, including knowledge of healing-oriented trauma informed approaches.
  • Knowledge on the impact of abuse and trauma on development in order to meet clients’ needs in a developmental, individualised way.
  • Valid driver’s licence, and ability to drive MCM fleet vehicles as a regular element of the role.
