MENH is seeking a Manager who will be responsible for the effective coordination and overall operation of the Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House, whilst assisting the Board to ensure that the House continues to provide a diverse range of recreational, social, educational and intercultural activities, which are relevant to the needs of the local community and establish MENH as a preferred venue for community groups and partner organisations.

The Manager will be integral in working with the Board/Treasurer to ensure strong financial management and a diversity of income streams so that the MENH continues to be successfully operating into the future.

The Manager leads a team of staff, volunteers and contractors. This is an ongoing part time position 26 hours per week, worked over 4 days. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHCADS) Award 2010.

The position will develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally with the Board of Governance, staff, tutors, community groups and volunteers and within the broader community. This will include representing Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House within the service sector, working cooperatively with Local, State & Federal Government departments and actively participating in relevant networks.

Selection Criteria

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in community development and/or a related discipline and/or extensive experience in management
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to increase MENH income streams and prepare grant applications (and subsequent acquittals), submissions, reports and accountability statement as required (internal and external) in a timely manner.
  • Proven track record in financial management and budgeting including ability to support the Treasurer in developing an annual budget and to work with the Treasurer to ensure that the House remains within its budget.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to solicit ideas and feedback from a range of sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build strong working relationships with other community groups and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to use word processing systems and software packages, e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Current Victorian Drivers License
  • Working with Children Check
  • Police Check

Desirable

  • Experience Managing a Neighbourhood House / Not for Profit
  • Understanding of legislation as it relates to Neighbourhood Houses
  • First Aid

Employment will be subject to a clear Police Check and Working with Children Check.
