Job Description

The Home for Good – Homelessness Child Protection team purpose is to provide coordination and direct support to families with children unborn to 17 years of age presenting with child protection concerns or involvement with the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services.

As a Family Support & Advocacy Worker you will provide individualised case management and support for families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with co-occurring domestic violence and child safety concerns in Brisbane, thereby contributing to an existing multidisciplinary team structure.

This position will involve a mixture of planned case management, outreach support, coordination and problem solving with the identified families, and with other team supporting families that are experience child protection concerns and accessing services through Micah Projects.

This is a full time fixed term employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 4/5, dependent upon experience, of the SCHADS Award.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant qualification and/or extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.

You will also have demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable families who have experienced disadvantages that could include homelessness or Child Safety involvement using a case work model.

Effective use of communication skills, ability to problem solve and advocate, and knowledge and/or experience in working with people in a human service setting, with the ability to learn cross-disciplinary responses to domestic and family violence housing and homelessness is also essential to this role.
