Skylight is recruiting a Community Mental Health Coach to work within the South Australian Flood Disaster Recovery Support Program in the Murraylands region.

The role is classified at SCHADS Level 4, 0.7 FTE and 6 month Maximum Term Contract servicing areas of the South Australian Murray Malley region.

About the Role

The Community Mental Health Worker will be responsible for the delivery of a unique one to one and group-based service to participants in regional South Australia to improve individual and community mental health and wellbeing and resilience in the face of regional disasters. Providing participants with strategies and tools to support mental wellbeing and linking participants into other community services to build support structures that can be utilised in preparation for, during and post natural disasters.

This role will include working closely with staff and participants to promote recovery, inspire hope and facilitate a process wherein participants can:

  • Build capacity and personal skills
  • Providing Psychoeducation on self-guided CBT strategies that assist to work through symptoms of anxiety, low mood, worry and uncertainty.
  • Identify their strengths and goals
  • Build resilience
  • Link in with people to help improve their wellbeing
  • Connect with family or with community
  • Enjoy a full and vibrant quality of life.

About you

Essential:

  • Qualifications or experience relevant to mental health
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of mental health challenges
  • Capacity to work both autonomously and within teams
  • Experience with person centred and recovery-oriented frameworks
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs and relevant software
  • Must have DHS Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Check
  • Current SA Drivers Licence and willingness to use own vehicle

Desirable

  • Delivery of psychoeducation (particularly in group settings)
  • Sound understanding and practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies with participants.
  • Understanding of the local community and ability to build collaborative connections in community.
