About the role

Mind is a recognised leader in the delivery and innovation of lived experience approaches in mental ill-health, with a strong focus on divisional functions including Research, Advocacy & Policy Development, Inclusion & Participation, and Housing Strategy. The Executive team works closely with the broader organisation, enabling us to deliver services to clients, stakeholders and the community, understanding their experiences while striving for social change on issues that matter. We are seeking a self-motivated Board Secretary for a permanent full time opportunity in the Burnley area with work from home options. You will deliver meeting coordination, board and committee agenda and minute’s preparation and Director liaison, as well as provide administrative support to Board members and the Executive Assistant of the CEO. For Mind Australia and its subsidiaries, you will provide support for organisational governance, and act as the contact point for board related matters for the Mind CEO and Executive.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high quality confidential secretarial and general administrative support to the board, its subsidiary companies and committees.
  • Support the Executive Assistant to undertake a range of administrative tasks that support efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Provide strong communication across the Board, its subsidiary companies, CEO, Executive team and senior managers of Mind.
  • Prepare and deliver minutes, agenda items and documentation are distributed for all meetings.
  • Support organisation governance activities or other activities (such as internal committee support) that support the CEO or Company Secretary or governance functions. 

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience in the operation of Boards and Committees.
  • Highly effective time management skills, recognising competing priorities resulting from the timing of board and committee schedules.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field with demonstrated experience in a similar role as designated by Mind.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders up to executive leadership level.
  • A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental ill health is desirable.
