About the service

The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services, also refer to as “Locals”, are a key recommendation from Victoria’s Royal Commission into the mental health service system’s transformation. The Locals will act as the ‘front door’ service to the mental health system and will provide a continuum of care and support, including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach. These services will have a ‘no wrong door’ policy, ensuring accessibility to all individuals seeking support.

About the role

The initial phase of the service is planned to be operational from early December. This is a telehealth service that will move to a temporary or permanent designated location in Dandenong during the early part of 2024.

For this initial phase of the service work may be done either from home, from an existing Mind site or an existing site of one of the Locals consortium partners. There is an expectation to travel to a physical local as negotiated for induction, training and/or collaboration where needed. Mind will consider individuals located in any area across Victoria for this secondment opportunity.

As the establishment of the Local develops, the role will be required to expand service delivery from telehealth to include face to face support, group and outreach where required.
