About the role

The Allied Health service offers a range of specialist supports and clinical services that aim to maximise recovery outcomes for clients with complex mental health and dual disabilities in the community. The multidisciplinary Allied Health team delivers holistic centred based, assertive outreach, one-to-one and shared supports, group work facilitation, online and telehealth services to clients, families and carers in a person-centred, integrated stepped care framework that targets individual needs. Services include clinical assessments, psychological therapies, streamlined referrals, access to service provider networks, mental health counselling, care coordination, NDIS planning, resources and information, education and vocational assistance, and recreational activities to empower clients to have choice and control over their services and recovery goals. 

We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Occupational Therapist for a permanent, full or part time opportunity to work remotely within a dynamic team in the Melbourne metropolitan area. As a new graduate or experienced clinician, you will provide transdisciplinary clinical services and meaningful evidence-based, time limited psychological therapies within a stepped care framework responsive to meet the needs of clients experiencing mental health challenges. OT’s will deliver in person, outreach, online or telehealth interventions using strengths-based approaches to support clients to achieve recovery goals and improve their wellbeing. 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver flexible therapeutic support services including OT assessments, brief interventions, treatment planning, evaluations and education in line with professional, ethical and National Standards.
  • Provide evidence-based mental health interventions, allied health assessments, therapies and short-term interventions to meet client needs.
  • Provide high quality care coordination, advocacy, streamlined referrals, access to service networks, counselling, and vocational and education support.
  • Support clients with person-centred, recovery-orientated services to achieve care plan goals, foster independence, build capacity and improve quality of life.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Occupational Therapy hold current registration with AHPRA or equivalent accreditation.
  • Expertise in working with clients with mental health issues, dual disability issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers is desirable.
  • Capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Ability to plan, implement and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
  • Understanding of the NDIS, Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
