About the role

The Research, Advocacy & Policy Development division has a national focus providing strategic and operational leadership for investment in research and evaluation, business development, clinical governance, policy development and advocacy. In line with a growth strategy, Research, Advocacy & Policy Development is responsible for developing and delivering on Mind’s strategic goals for consumer advocacy, social change and contributing to a better, stronger Australian mental health system. The Practice, Quality and Service Design business unit aims to understand the impact of mental ill health on people’s lives to ensure that organisational systems, processes, policies, practice and service design embed approaches and attitudes that support the cultural safety, access and engagement of people who are employed, use or benefit from services.

We are seeking two highly motivated, compassionate Practice Development Advisors for a fixed term, full time opportunity in the Burnley area. There are two positions available through till 30 June 2024 and 31 December 2024.  You will provide expert guidance to implement and maintain consistent practice standards, meet policy and procedure compliance requirements, support workforce skills development and ensure knowledge transfer methods and models are embedded into service delivery. With work from home options, the role will work with stakeholders to champion, facilitate and entrench best practice and improvement systems across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high quality recovery-orientated services and practice standards across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to facilitate practice development and consistency, build workforce skills and entrench knowledge transfer methods.
  • Display a commitment to the Quality Framework and strategy development to ensure innovation and improvement is embedded in systems and processes.
  • Consult with Lived Experience teams to ensure lived experience is incorporated into practice development and quality improvement.
  • Support effective planning, management and review of practice, safety and quality issues.
  • Contribute to policy development and ensure policies, procedures and guidelines in line with best practice standards. 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Social Policy, Social Science or other health-related field are required. Post-graduate tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are desirable.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health service delivery, service development and design, and practice frameworks.
  • Previous experience in monitoring, evaluating and improving services through effective organisational practice governance approaches, methods and resources.
  • Understanding of creation, execution and evaluation of practice improvement or change management programs.
  • Lived experience of mental ill health and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental ill health is desirable.
