About the role

The Practice Development Advisor – Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals (Locals) requires the application of skills, knowledge and experience to facilitate, implement and embed best practice and quality improvement systems that align to and support the development and delivery of Minds Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals. The role will work collaboratively across the Mind-led Locals to lead and/or support the development of the Operational Manual.

This role focuses on supporting the implementation of the Locals, a key initiative from Victoria's Royal Commission to transform the mental health system. The Locals provide integrated mental health and alcohol and drug services with a 'no wrong door' approach.

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate Practice Development Advisor for a permanent full-time opportunity in the Burnley area, although this role will require work from Mind’s Locals sites (Melton, Dandenong, Bendigo & Echuca) In this role, you will provide expert guidance to implement and maintain consistent practice standards, meet policy and procedure compliance requirements, support workforce skills development and ensure knowledge transfer methods and models are embedded into service delivery. With hybrid working options available at times, the role will work with stakeholders to champion, facilitate and entrench best practice and improvement systems across the Locals. 

Key responsibilities

  • Develop skills and knowledge in the Locals services to provide specialist practice and quality support to staff regarding the Locals.
  • Build strong relationships with operational leaders within the Locals across Mind and partner organisations to ensure developmental work is collaborative
  • Work collaboratively with operational leaders and partner staff to lead the development of the Locals Operational Manual utilising methods such as working groups, workshops, co-design and consultation.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate a range of practice development projects and activities across the organisation that support best practice.
  • In all work undertaken, ensure the voice of Lived Experience and Lived Expertise is elevated.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, AOD, Health, Social Policy, Social Science or other health-related field are required. Post-graduate tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety and quality principles and systems in a health care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to support managers and staff to monitor, evaluate and improve services through an effective organisational practice governance approach and provision of tools, methods and resources relevant to the mental health sector.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting the design, management, implementation and evaluation of practice improvement projects or change management programs.
  • Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental health challenges is desirable.
