Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Housing (MAH) is an established and progressive, Tier One National Community Housing provider of social and affordable housing and also provides both tenancy and asset management services for a number of third party organisations and private investors

Mission Australia has been providing Housing services to Tasmania for 12 years and taking on the management of 500 properties in 2013. This role will be actively involved in Mission Australia Housing’s growing portfolio in Tasmania and will require strategic vision and successful delivery through collaborative teamwork. 

We seek to offer a pathway away from homelessness by providing good-quality housing that enables people to participate in their communities.

Mission Australia Housing is looking for a highly skilled Team Leader to successfully support the delivery of application and tenancy management services in the Inner Sydney area at Mission Australia Housing’s Flagship Common Ground complex.

Position Responsibilities 

As the Team Leader for Tenancy Services, you will be responsible in ensuring the delivery of a wide range of tenancy and property management services to clients from various backgrounds including clients with high complex needs.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage and monitor the human, financial and physical resources allocated to you and work within budgets
  • Be responsible for all property and tenancy management activities in the surrounding region
  • Develop good working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Formulate various reports to monitor tenancy needs and trends and provide direction to relevant parties
  • Support the Regional Manager in preparation of tenders and EOI when necessary
  • Effectively coordinate, advise and lead the team and ensure that a diverse range of training and development activities are available 
  • Provide regular policy and program advice to managers in relation to the development of property and service plans
  • Prepare high-level projects documents, business case proposals, reports and submissions for senior management
  • Maintain MAH data and records in a quality manner to facilitate planning, quality management and reporting 
  • Represent MAH at NCAT Tribunal hearing when necessary

This pivotal position will also provide guidance, support, collaboration and cooperation to the asset, community development, services and stakeholder engagement teams of Mission Australia and Mission Australia Housing as well as external stakeholders including Local and State Government.

Requirements for Success

  • Previous exposure/experience as a team leader in public/community housing
  • The ability to build networks within the social housing sector
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with effective time management capabilities
  • Track record of success in your ability to deliver positive client outcomes and sustain social housing tenancies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Excel reporting and presentation skills
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or happy to obtain one 
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
