MITS currently has positions for 2 Female overnight Coordinators at our Alumni Boarding House in Richmond (Year 8 to 12 girls). This is a small home style residencies.

You have previous experience in a residential or boarding school environment, and want a role where you can make a significant contribution to furthering the development of Indigenous students. To meet the cultural requirements of this position you can demonstrate a sound knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and lifestyles. Naturally you will have the ability to establish appropriate relationships with young people, show consistency and fairness. An understanding and appreciation of the needs and interests of Indigenous students living away from home is vital.
You will supervise students, ensuring they are dressed and ready for school, participate in outings on weekend and contribute to a range of regular program of night and weekend activities to enrich their personal, social and cultural development. A background in student residential care is essential; experience in an Indigenous environment is highly regarded.
Importantly, you will be available to lend a sympathetic ear to children with problems and be sensitive to their concerns so experience with, and an understanding of the unique needs of Indigenous children living away from home is mandatory.
As part of this role you will contribute to domestic duties, encourage students to keep the Boarding House tidy and supervise their laundry to ensure our residents have clean uniforms, sporting clothes, etc.
