You’ll be motivated to contribute to our vision and growth by working with us in this new role. You’ll help us establish a strong presence in Adelaide as we set up this new service. You’ll become known for your courageous, insightful support for vulnerable clients. You’ll derive satisfaction from seeing your colleagues and clients gain new financial skills, knowledge and strengths.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualifications as a financial counsellor or financial capability worker and/or minimum certificate IV qualification in a community services related discipline.
  • Experience leading and motivating a small team.
  • Extensive experience in the Community Sector working with people with complex needs, undertaking assertive outreach, supporting clients to address financial problems.
  • Experience working with First Nations people or culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Advanced communication skills across all domains - verbal, writing, listening and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent administrative, time management and IT skills.
  • Unrestricted Drivers’ License and right to work in Australia.

In your first six months, you’ll:

  • Undertake cultural awareness training and induction through a trip to Alice Springs & the APY Lands.
  • Be involved in recruitment for your team.
  • Meet, get to know and support clients in Adelaide with their needs.
  • Network and advocate with peers, relevant agencies and contacts.
  • Ensure administration is maintained to a high standard.

PLEASE NOTE:

Working in the community sector with complex clients requires sound physical and psychological fitness. Community sector work carries a likelihood of staff exposure to acute or prolonged stress due to the inherent nature of the roles - particularly considering the levels of ongoing and intergenerational trauma carried by First Nations communities. We do not recommend this work as suitable for candidates whose life experience includes significant personal loss, severe traumatic victimisation or serious mental illness.
