You’ll be motivated to contribute to our vision and growth by working with us in this new role. You’ll help us develop more integrated, insightful support for vulnerable clients. You’ll derive satisfaction from building relationships and seeing your colleagues and clients gain new skills, knowledge and strengths.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum undergraduate level qualifications in social work, behavioural sciences, counselling, family work, mediation or other relevant qualification
  • At least three years post qualification experience case managing complex cases with vulnerable clients experiencing abuse (experience with First Nations people in a remote setting will be highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience providing counselling/mediation and coaching using a trauma-informed approach in a variety of settings, for example individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Experience in undertaking individual and systemic advocacy
  • Previous experience in collaborating with, mentoring and supporting multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve positive outcomes and promote best practice
  • Highly developed cross-cultural communication, time management, administration skills and detail orientation.

In your first six months, you’ll:

  • Undertake cultural awareness training and induction
  • Be introduced to and commence travel to APY Lands communities, one week on, one week off.
  • Build awareness of and trust in this new role
  • Meet, get to know and support clients with their needs
  • Network and advocate with peers, relevant agencies and contacts.
  • Ensure administration is maintained to a high standard

PLEASE NOTE:

Remote work requires sound physical and psychological fitness due to the levels of intergenerational trauma carried by First Nations communities and the likelihood of staff exposure to acute or prolonged stress associated with community services roles in these environments. We do not recommend this work as suitable for candidates whose life experience includes significant personal loss, severe traumatic victimisation or serious mental illness.
