The Opportunity
The Grants Lead is a dynamic position that both supports the facilitation of the Community Grants program, as well as works across the organisation to support grant seeking.
This position will see you working collaboratively to support the Grants Coordinator and to develop and support the implementation of Moonee Valley's Community Funding Policy and Community Grants Program.
This position will work strategically with the support of the Grants Coordinator across the organisation to identify and draft applications for external funding opportunities for grants as well as award nominations for the Council, servicing all departments and business units
Responsibilities
- Work with the Coordinator Grants to facilitate the implementation of Council's centralised Community Grants Program and financial support programs.
- Inform the review and improvement of the Community Grants Policy and Program to ensure its alignment to Council strategy and responsiveness to the emerging needs in our community.
- Identify, seek and monitor external funding opportunities for grants through a centralised approach which aligns with Council's priorities.
- Service the organisation by drafting high quality, compelling, grant applications for Council funding, working across all business units within the organisation.
- Prepare responsive, factual, concise reports and briefings to the Executive Team and Council for endorsement.
- With the support of the grants team, manage the register of grant opportunities, deadline for application, success/non-success and associated data for regular executive reporting.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in social science, community development or a related discipline along with relevant demonstrated experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing grants programs, preferably within a local government context.
- Developed sense of political acumen and the confidence to build and maintain working relationships with senior leadership staff, councillors, and community leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to engender collaborative working relationships with others internally and externally in the delivery of objectives and programs.
- Experience with SmartyGrants is desirable.
