Background:

This is an exciting and varied opportunity to join our Moriarty Foundation Head Office Team, a part-time position (3-4 days per week, worked flexibly across the week) to work with the Head of Communications in executing and monitoring communications strategies.

Sydney-headquartered Moriarty Foundation was established in 2012. Its founders are John Moriarty, a Yanyuwa NT man, business owner and the first Indigenous footballer to be selected for Australia, and business owner / author / social investor Ros Moriarty. We enable NT, NSW and QLD Aboriginal communities and families to unlock their children’s potential. We tailor our approach to meet local challenges and needs in communities, with local employment and staff development at the centre of our sustainability. Moriarty Foundation delivers two programs that follow the whole-of-child life cycle from birth to 18. Indi Kindi (early years program) and John Moriarty Football (football for good and skills mastery program).

A small, energetic HO team of dedicated staff has successfully established and scaled the organisation’s reach over the past decade, in Borroloola, Robinson River, and Tennant Creek NT, Kuranda and surrounds in Queensland, and Dubbo and surrounds in NSW. Sydney and community scholarships programs co-exist with grassroots delivery.

Position Purpose:

The Communications Coordinator will work with the Head of Communications in executing and monitoring communications strategies.

This is an exciting and varied role, working across all areas of the organisation to support the Foundation’s mission to build an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children thrive.

The Moriarty Foundation Communications Coordinator is responsible for fulfilling the following key areas:

  • Content creation: Create content for digital platforms, including social media, website and email marketing.
  • Social media management: Manage multiple social media profiles.
  • Media relations: Create media angles, draft media releases, liaise with media contacts and brief staff.
  • Email marketing: Create newsletter and email marketing campaigns.
  • Fundraising communications: Create communications materials that support fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • General communications support: Assist with drafting awards entries, pitching speaking engagements, preparing presentations and briefing materials.
  • Reporting: Support with ongoing measurement and reporting activities.
  • Planning: Assist with developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Administrative support: Assist with day-to-day communications administrative tasks.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, public relations or marketing.
  • Ideally, 2 years in a communications, public relations or marketing role.
  • Experience in using digital platforms, including social media.
  • Experience using digital marketing tools, especially Asana, MailChimp, Salesforce, Wordpress, Raisely, Canva.
  • Some experience in design and/or video editing is favourable.
  • Proficiency in using Google tools, i.e. Google Docs, Google Drive, etc
