Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) is a not-for-profit organisation that works alongside people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, so individuals and communities throughout lutruwita/Tasmania thrive. We provide effective, targeted and meaningful services in the South, North and North West of the State.
The Phoenix Centre provides trauma-informed mental health support for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals, including survivors of torture and trauma. As part of MRC Tas and a member of FASSTT, it delivers specialised services statewide to promote recovery and wellbeing.
The Peer Mentor role utilises lived experience of migration, settlement, and psycho-social challenges, combined with cultural knowledge, to provide tailored support to clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. This includes assisting clients in understanding their healthcare rights, building self-advocacy skills, and navigating psycho-social stressors impacting wellbeing and social inclusion. The role also involves contributing to the design and delivery of community-based programs, as well as offering individual support to program participants to enhance their engagement and outcomes across various MRC Tas programs.
