You could be our next dynamic, highly organised and technically able Fisheries Outreach Manager, contributing to a successful and high impact Fisheries Outreach Program in Australia & New Zealand.

In this exciting role you can expect to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Australia & New Zealand outreach team strategy, to aid retention and growth of the MSC program and mission in this region.

As a dynamic and influential team member, you will play a pivotal role in developing relationships with stakeholders to promote sustainable fishing practices and safeguard seafood for the future.

As this post will involve collaborating with the fisheries and seafood sector in Australia & New Zealand, the successful candidate will need to combine a knowledge of marine and fisheries issues with a thorough technical understanding of this dynamic sector. You will also need to collaborate with the commercial and marketing & communications disciplines within the local team as part of an integrated approach to meeting our shared team objectives.

You will be responsible for the collaboration and retention of existing partners, expansion of the program with interested fisheries in the region, and working with the team to drive a strengthened value proposition for certified fisheries. The Fisheries Outreach Manager will develop and deliver value to partners in a consistent and coordinated fashion, with enhanced and timely MSC-related communications and education to all fisheries, client representatives, state and federal government agencies and member companies.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A post-graduate degree in a relevant subject
  • Previous experience working in capture fisheries management, research, policy, regulatory management, and/or operations
  • An understanding of resource sustainability issues, specifically the fisheries and seafood industry in key regions.
  • A partner-focused approach that is results-oriented and built on a foundation of relationship development
  • Ability to support and foster a collaborative team environment.

Existing familiarity with the MSC Fishery Standard and Chain of Custody Standard would also be an advantage.

The MSC is committed to flexible working. The successful candidate will need to work from the Cronulla, NSW, Australia office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month. The remaining time can be worked from home.
