Melythina Tiakana Warrana (Heart of Country) Aboriginal Corporation

ABOUT Melythina Tiakana WarrAna (Heart of Country) aboriginal corporation

Melythina Tiakana Warrana (Heart of Country) Aboriginal Corporation (MTWAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community-controlled Organisation founded in 2008. MTWAC is based in Launceston, with on-Country operations centred on Tebrakunna Country (Cape Portland) in Northeast Trouwunna / Tasmania.

MTWAC's major annual community event is Mannalargena Day, celebrating the life of ancestral grandfather Mannalargenna, revered Bungana (leader) of the clans of the Coastal Plains Nation of Northeast Tasmania. MTWAC operates with a palpable commitment to best practice governance. The corporation has managed to rise above the horror of its historic past.
