Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia (MDFA) is the national peak body representing the interests of more than 40,000 Australians living with muscular dystrophy and similar rare conditions. MDFA is committed to advocating on behalf of our community to influence improved health, social and economic outcomes. Our members are state and territory-based organisations which provide specialist support and services for their communities.

This role will work closely with those state members, the supportive board and other stakeholders to identify systemic advocacy issues, craft impactful submissions and identify strategic funding opportunities.

This is a part-time role, with a 2 year contract to the right candidate. Remote work but Canberra adjacent would be an advantage. FTE equivalent over $100k. Increase your take home earnings with not for profit salary packaging.

You will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in advocacy or public policy, with a strong record of developing and implementing strategic initiatives
  • A relevant bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Experience in leading teams, managing projects, effectively using technology for advocacy work
  • Strong history of engaging effectively with stakeholders

This role has a significant opportunity for impact. You will lead the development of MDFA's advocacy strategy, represent MDFA at various forums conferences and meetings. Monitor and evaluate the advocacy activities, conduct research and analysis on various policy issues. Develop high quality submissions and support and boost the long term financial stability.
