About Music in Exile

Since 2019, MIE has supported artists to write, record, release and tour original music, developing creative and professional networks for artists and creating real opportunities for a career in the arts.

MIE operates on the principle of ‘artist first’, allowing artists to guide the process and ensuring that our work at all times responds to artists’ personal and professional goals.

In undertaking this work, we – the staff and Board – hope to contribute to an Australian music industry that is accessible for all, and that more accurately represents the many voices of our community.

To date, Music in Exile has generated:

  • $565,960 paid directly to artists for recording and touring activity
  • 240 live performances in every state and territory of the country
  • 36 albums & EPs for Music in Exile artists
  • 610,000 monthly listeners on Spotify
  • 380,500 views on YouTube
