GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Data Advocacy and Strategy Coordinator is a proactive professional with comprehensive experience in diverse data management aspects, including data analysis, collection, reporting, database architecture, and data strategy development.

This role involves close collaboration with management to address data needs across NAAJA's various programs and offices.

Responsibilities include leading data reporting, driving internal initiatives, and promoting data-informed decision-making by enhancing data insights' accessibility to staff and management. They guide data architecture, streamline data collection and reporting processes, and foster effective communication and collaboration. Their contributions are crucial in enhancing data practices and strategy, as well as providing support for NAAJA's strategic direction, decision-making, and advocacy efforts, ultimately improving overall organisational efficiency.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

  • Conduct ongoing evaluations and refinements of data collection practices.
  • Design and implement efficient data collection, submission, and accessing processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and provide advice on data collection practices.
  • Regularly provide data reports to Executive and section managers that assist in:
    • Monitoring and reporting service delivery.
    • Tracking performance.
    • Informing NAAJA's policy and research work.
  • Collaborate effectively with NAAJA’s IT team to support and enhance organisational data strategy.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in collecting, analysing, and communicating data to drive organisational reporting requirements and priorities.
  • An understanding of the issues affecting the disproportionate involvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the justice system, including a demonstrated sensitivity to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, people their history and culture.
  • An ability to think strategically, identify trends and opportunities in line with NAAJA goals.
  • Ability to work constructively with a diverse team to achieve the goals of the organisation.
  • Ability to obtain a satisfactory “Working With Children Clearance” (Ochre Card) upon commencement.
  • Satisfactory criminal history check and no history of disqualification from employment by a legal practice.

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in data science or related discipline.

The position offers the following attractive employment benefits

  • Competitive remuneration and salary packaging options.
  • Commensurate with experience, salary ranges between $102,480 and $114,536 per annum.
  • 6 weeks annual leave per year + leave loading.
  • Annual airfare.
  • Relocation allowance.
