We are delighted to partner with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to identify an experienced Fundraising Leader. The ILF is a fantastic, national charity focusing on significantly improving the literacy of children and young people based in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote Communities across Australia.
The Organisation
Founded in 2011, ILF provides access to books and literacy programs. They gift thousands of new books each year, support communities to create books, many in First Languages, and organise major advocacy and fundraising events, including Indigenous Literacy Day.
As National Head of Fundraising, you will work with a team of passionate, inspiring and forward-thinking professionals who are dedicated to the cause and improving the lives of young people in disadvantaged communities.
The Role
Playing a key role as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the Fundraising Team and be pivotal in identifying, engaging with and securing longterm donor partnerships with major businesses, as well as retaining current supporters. You will be experienced in all areas of fundraising, and be someone who thrives in and positively contributes to an environment of teamwork, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Creating and driving the Fundraising Strategy across all donor streams
- Developing impactful corporate sponsorship agreements and formulating meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships to achieve sustainable growth from new revenue targets
- Optimising existing fundraising streams and planning for potential changes or risks to current donor relationships
- Diversify revenue streams, segmenting donor profiles, designing and implementing targeted initiatives, campaigns and giving programs
- Lead, inspire and motivate a team of 4, providing career development, training and promoting collaboration, innovation and establishing KPIs to achieve funding targets
- Representing ILF at events and creating networking opportunities to elevate organisational awareness and maximise donor potential
Required Skills/Experience
- Exceptional leadership skills and have led/motivated/developed a Fundraising team including training junior staff
- Significant experience working within the charity sector, understanding organisational drivers and applying a strategic mindset to all activities
- Demonstrated success in securing funding from new business development, including building corporate partnerships, building effective networks and exceeding revenue targets
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills at all levels internally and with external stakeholders
- Proven experience in developing compelling proposals including grants and delivering impactful presentations
- Results-driven, a strong grasp of financial budgets, forecasts and ROI, and the ability to utilise data analytics to improve performance
- Strong systems skills, reporting experience and ability to make data-led decisions
- Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel as necessary
- The role is full-time and is based in the Sydney CBD office, with working from home flexibility once established
- You must have full, permanent working rights in Australia and be based in Sydney
