This key leadership role works closely with the disability community, disability representative organisations, the research sector, and the NDRP team to ensure the NDRP is a trusted source of evidence and knowledge translation for a range of stakeholders to enable effective use of evidence in policy and practice.

We are building a diverse team and strongly encourage people with disability to apply. This is a flexible, work from home position that actively supports inclusion and accessibility.

Important notes

  • This is a new role, created to help the NDRP get established and deliver on its evidence to action and knowledge translation activities to close the research to policy and practice gap.
  • We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

About the role

This position, reporting to the CEO, will oversee the implementation of the NDRP evidence to action and knowledge mobilisation. The role will build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders including research teams, Disabled People’s Organisations and Disability Representative Organisations, other funding agencies and government.

Responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Ensuring the needs of end users of evidence are well known and supporting the NDRP Research End User Advisory Group.
  • Work with the Australian Policy Observatory (APO) who curate the APO Disability Research Collection and develop a range of evidence synthesis materials.
  • Strengthen the understanding of researchers and research teams’ knowledge of the Australian disability policy landscape, so research projects produce evidence that is well used.
  • Support research readiness activities prior to NDRP funding rounds on integrated knowledge translation approaches.
  • Coordinate the quarterly NDRP knowledge mobilisation events.
  • Develop and commission of a suite of resources and methods that share and synthesise evidence for action and develop and implement systems for knowledge translation.

We will have a small team who will all pitch in and support each other including the Head of Research Program, the Operations Lead and Communications Lead who will work closely with this role.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusive research and evidence generation. Ideally you will have:

  • Deep understanding of the Australian disability policy landscape, and how research aligned to the NDRP research agenda can influence and shape policy and practice.

  • Experience in knowledge translation including synthesising research and producing accessible and engaging materials for a range of audiences including people with disability, organisations, government, the community.

  • Outstanding communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment and generate solutions and ideas.
  • A commitment to a human rights based approach and the NDRP principles.
