Neighbourhood Centres Queensland is the peak body for place-based Neighbourhood and Community Centres (NCCs) across the state. With 130+ members across the state and connections with 150+ centres, our network is the largest community-led infrastructure in Queensland. NCQ grows the collective impact of the Neighbourhood Centre sector by increasing recognition, resourcing and relationships of our sector at the regional, state and national level. About the role

The Finance Officer enables the day-to-day financial and compliance functions of Neighbourhood Centres Queensland (NCQ). This role facilitates smooth business administration and development of a growing not-for-profit. The role includes payroll, accounts, financial reporting, budget forecasting, membership renewals, and finance-related quality and compliance. The Finance Officer will work closely with the CEO and Operations Lead and prepare financial information for the NCQ Treasurer and Board.

About you

  • Experience: Demonstrated financial experience working in a fast-paced community-focused nonprofit, with the ability to work autonomously, multi-task, manage competing priorities and adapt quickly to change.
  • Analytical approach: Highly organised, investigative and detail-oriented with a love for numbers.
  • Digital capability: In-depth knowledge of the Office365 suite, XERO accounting software and/or the ability to rapidly learn and implement relevant software;
  • Systems improvements & problem-solving: Derives satisfaction from proactively solving problems and creating, implementing and maintaining financial procedures and business systems to support organisations to thrive;
  • Professional communication and resilience under pressure: The ability to work flexibly within a team and communicate effectively with people at all levels to ensure smooth, efficient and on-time operation of the organisation, including the sensitive handling of confidential information; and
  • Values-driven: A strengths-based, proactive and supportive team player with aligned values and a commitment to social justice.
  • Community Minded: Experience in the Neighbourhood Centre Sector preferred. Experience in Social and Community causes or organisations is favourable.
