  • Classification: SCHADS Level 4 with an hourly rate of $53.90 - $58.00 p/h including casual loading + Superannuation

About your new role

The Community Engagement Officer is a multi-site role and supports Neami's approach to co-design, community collaboration and partnerships with local communities, mental health, and community organizations. It is responsible for raising awareness of mental health challenges and psychosocial distress as well as the Head to Health Service delivered by Neami in Penrith, Hawkesbury and Liverpool. This includes, but is not limited to, attending, and running community events, localised relationship development in the Nepean Blue Mountains and South Western regions and increased referrals to the services.

The Community Engagement Officer coordinates all activities related to our Community Governance Committees, including coordinating work as delegated by the Chairs & the SMO. The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for the coordination of the recruitment of members, report writing for submission to the Committee and liaison with all members off session.

The position is directly responsible for the awareness and promotion of the Neami National culture of service delivery. The Community Engagement Officer ensures that the best interests of Neami, stakeholder partners and consumers and their family/friend are represented fairly and accurately in public interactions and communications. Thismeans that community-based campaigns are carried out in a consistent, timely and efficient manner. The Community Engagement Officer actively supports the State Leadership Team and their staff to deliver quality services in line with Neami's values, while building and maintaining local area partnerships. The role also promotes and fosters a culture that supports Neami's mission and vision, including the Neami Reconciliation Action Plan priority areas and activities in NSW.

What you will bring to the role

Essential

  • Significant relevant experience, skills and/or tertiary qualifications in social sciences, governance, community engagement, stakeholder management or communications,
  • Experience working with community groups and organisations, particularly in the mental health sector,
  • Well-developed and proven written and verbal skills, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills,
  • Highly developed consultation and interpersonal skills including ability to build influential and productive working relationships with stakeholders,
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds,
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating activities across a broad range of contemporary community engagement methods,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • High level Microsoft skills,
  • Knowledge of the mental health and/or community services sector in Australia,
  • Current Working With Children Check,
  • Up to date Australian Police Check,
  • A valid Australian Driver's License.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating and influencing stakeholders to deliver solutions in a complex working environment,
  • Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team and across multiple projects,
  • Digital media knowledge and skills.

What the role requires

  • Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
  • Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car
