  • Part Time Permanent (0.8 FTE)
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 4 with a salary range of $82,123 - $88,367 per annum (pro rata) + Superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
  • Location: Head to Health Intake and Assessment Referral Service, Country SA, Whyalla, Port Pirie and Port Lincoln etc. However remote or hybrid working arrangements will be considered

About your new role

The Intake and Assessment Officer is part of a multidisciplinary mental health team, delivering high quality mental health intake, assessment, triage, and referral services for individuals in the community who experience mental health issues and are seeking support. The priority of the HtH IAR Service is to connect people seamlessly to the most appropriate local service to meet their identified needs, consistent with the 'stepped care' approach.

Intake and Assessment Officers will provide an initial identification and assessment of individuals' needs, as well as assist people requiring general information.

The officer will have responsibility for undertaking an assessment using the Commonwealth's Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST), and work closely with the clinicians within the team to determine the level of clinical oversight, and key decisions required in matching people with the appropriate support service.

What you will bring to the role

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health/ Community Services/ Youth Work/ Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent)
  • Compliant with SA Health workplace health and safety requirements, including Requirements for Workers in Healthcare Settings
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health intake, assessment and supporting consumers with presenting mental health concerns.
  • Engage consumers, using a strengths-based approach.
  • Experience working with client information systems, maintaining accurate documentation and data collection.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations in an empathetic manner.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people.
  • Proven ability to work productively in a changing and agile environment
