• Classification: Registered Nurse Level 2 with salary range of $96,705 - $101,566 + Superannuation or Health Professional Level 2 with a salary range of $91,706 - $102,613 + Superannuation

About your new role

As a Mental Health AOD Clinician, you will have a background in and be registered as a Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse with the relevant accreditation body in your field. If this accreditation has not yet been achieved, it is expected that this would be achieved within one year of working in the service.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary recovery-focused team inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners, specialist child and family workers, care recovery coordinators, specialist LGBTQIA+, AOD, and mental health peer support workers.

Drawing on your disciplinary skills, you will engage with consumers, to provide high quality psychological therapies, and clinical interventions, and where identified, work with the consumers treatment team, their family, friends, and carers aimed at improving mental health outcomes and/or help the consumer to recover from the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. You will play an active role in disciplinary knowledge sharing with your colleagues and creating a reciprocal learning environment for staff.

What you will bring to the role

• Formal tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, or Mental Health Occupational Therapy
• Current full registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) essential, or full registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Proven clinical experience to apply evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions, including understanding of theoretical concepts within mental health and/or AOD sciences and their application to mental health and/or AOD presentations.
• Experience working as a member of a multi- disciplinary team with the ability to inspire and facilitate team commitment and cooperation.
• Demonstrated ability to form and nurture partnerships with government and non-government mental health, AOD, emergency and community service providers.
• All staff are required to adhere to Neami immunisation and vaccination policy directives to minimise the risk of vaccine preventable diseases to protect workers, other employees, consumers, and visitors.

Desirable

• Knowledge of local services particularly relevant to designated program area.
• Experience in preparation of reports with recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience in working with people of all ages, including families.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act, policies, and practices with the ability to assess and manage clinical, work health and safety, quality & organisational risk.
• Knowledge of Equal Opportunities Legislation, policies, and practices
• Experience working across a range of Commonwealth and State funded mental health/AOD programs and ensuring program implementation in line with funding requirements and contracts
• Knowledge of Professional Codes of Conduct and Ethics: aware of and practicing within relevant Federal and State Legislation and the relevant Professional Code of Practice, Conduct and Ethic
