Position details

• Part Time, Permanent Position (0.5 FTE).
• Classification: SCHADS Level 5 with a salary range of $97,476 - $101,883 per annum, pro rata + Superannuation.
• Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year.
• Location: Strathpine, QLD.

About your new role

The Peer Practice Lead works with the team at Safe Space Strathpine in providing an innovative and responsive service to people experiencing crisis and distress. As a designated Lived Experience role, the Peer Practice Lead models Lived Experience leadership and ways of working by applying the Lived Experience lens as their primary way of working.

What you will bring to the role

• Personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges, distress, injustice and journey of wellbeing/healing and ability to apply learnings as your primary way of working.
• Strong understanding of the Lived Experience lens to ground practice and leadership in collective knowledge.
• Must have experience working in a designated Lived Experience/Peer Worker role.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to respond to complex or competing tasks in a timely way.
• Ability to establish and maintain respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with service visitors, staff, and partner organisations.
• A nuanced understanding of mental health systems and service navigation.
• Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma.
• Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery.
• Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery.
