Senior Practice leader - Head to Health - Townsville

Townsville Head to Health (HTH), funded by Northern QLD PHN through the Australian Government’s PHN program, will be a front door for people over 18 to access mental health support. The centre will assist people experiencing high levels of distress or suicidal crisis, by providing accessible community mental health supports.

About the role

  • Part Time
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2023
  • Consumer Service Delivery Level 4 From $84,934 - $88,791 per annum, depending on skills & experience
  • Location: Head to Health Townsville

The Lived Experience Senior Practice Leader must have their own lived experience of mental illness or personal experience in caring for someone who experiences mental illness and possess a rich understanding of their experiences of mental health recovery. As a Lived Experience Senior Practice Leader, you must be willing to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery. The role will have access to a tailored training program and to regular opportunities to reflect upon and develop their practice.

As the Senior Practice Leader you will:

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to Lived Experience Wellbeing Coaches and other staff where required.
  • Work at a practical level with a focus on applying the Collaborative Recovery Model
  • Lead and participate in reflective practice through team meetings, decision-making processes, service planning session, supervision, and staff development activities
  • Provide direct individual support to service users
  • Oversee the delivery of various group programs, including educating staff on the key elements of the program and take a lead role in facilitating the program
  • Where required, and in collaboration with Clinical staff, co-ordinate the initial needs assessment and intake of all service users.
  • Participate in partnership development activities with local hospitals and health services, GP’s and other relevant organisations.

What will you bring to the role?

Our ideal candidate will have broad experience in the delivery of mental health support services and the ability to inspire, motivate and coach staff to deliver these. We seek an enthusiastic and positive person to work alongside the Clinical Service Manager to provide practice guidance, supervision and support.

You will also have:

  • Lived Experience of your own mental illness and recovery or personal experience of caring for someone who experiences mental illness
  • Experience in group facilitation
  • The ability to adhere to principles and values
  • The necessary skills to work with people and build relationships
  • Sound organisational and decision making skills with the ability to respond and adapt to change
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven experience in solving complex problems
  • A valid QLD Bluecard
  • Australian Police Clearance
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Australian Working Rights
