The NEAS Australia Board is seeking a commercially savvy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with quality assurance (QA) experience to continue to develop and lead the strategic and operational activities of NEAS across Australia and internationally.

OVERVIEW OF NEAS

Since 1990, NEAS has advanced quality education through its quality assurance services and continues to lead the way in developing, supporting and promoting continuous quality improvement throughout the English Language Teaching (ELT) community. NEAS is the global leader in quality assurance for the ELT community, quality assuring ELT provision across higher education, vocational education and training, high school and independent ELICOS providers as well as agents and accommodation providers. NEAS’ approach to quality assurance is grounded in the NEAS Quality Assurance Framework, the Standards that guide providers in meeting and exceeding their compliance and quality goals.

NEAS’ remit is to be an independent quality assurance body for the entire English Language Teaching sector in Australia and overseas, safeguarding the interests of all students, including international, domestic, migrants and refugees studying English through a tightly controlled monitoring framework. NEAS’ mission is to support the achievement of quality outcomes for education and training globally and advance global quality assurance.

About the role

As the CEO, you will be responsible for leading NEAS to deliver the strategic and operational plans of the organisation, demonstrating leadership in QA in the ELT sector, building membership and managing stakeholder relationships, while running the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

The CEO responsibility includes:

  • Delivering excellence in QA in the ELT sector.
  • Providing strong, effective and collaborative leadership and direction to NEAS staff, members and the sector.
  • Assuming overall responsibility for the management of the day-to-day operations, including all the human and financial resources, while also developing diversified income and commercial opportunities.
  • Meeting the QA and associated needs of members and potential members, including delivery of appropriate professional development opportunities to the sector.
  • Ensuring good governance, compliance with standards and legislation and demonstrating best practice approaches to all NEAS activities.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will need to be a dynamic and charismatic leader, with skills and experience working in QA, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be a strategic thinker with proven business development and commercial acumen skills, and the ability to drive forward planning to meet member needs.

Selection Criteria

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary Qualifications relevant to the position and:
    • Relevant professional/postgraduate qualifications; or,
    • Substantial and relevant executive level experience.
  • Proven financial and data driven business modelling skills, commercial acumen and entrepreneurial track record in commercialising intellectual capital.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and membership management skills with advanced interpersonal and communication skills. Charismatic with demonstrated effectiveness as a leader.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise initiative in a high volume politically charged environment, to delegate appropriately and to prioritise effectively.
  • Experience in the legal, financial and governance responsibilities of running an organisation with oversight of a formal Board.
  • A strong understanding of marketing and brand protection.
  • Proven experience working in quality assurance and/or regulatory environments with responsibility for the QA processes.
  • Change management skills with exceptional risk management ability, including cyber and digital risk management.
  • Conference and events management experience.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in ELT sector.
  • Understanding of the needs of a non-profit and member-based organisation. Experience in achievement of organisational aims through advocacy.

Position Location

The NEAS office is located in Sydney. However, hybrid working arrangements may be considered for the right applicant.
