ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Court Network Queensland Volunteers provide court reception service to Domestic Family Violence Courts in 5 key locations.

The Volunteer Coordinator Cairns position is a 10 hour a week position currently responsible for Volunteer teams in the Cairns CBD area. Hours are negotiable, individuals with a flexible lifestyle suited to limited hours would be ideal, e.g. newly graduated or post-graduate students, semi-retirees, stay at home parents looking to supplement their household income, etc.

You may not have direct experience working in justice/courts but you have a strong commitment to social justice and volunteer management best practice. The successful candidates will have demonstrated team leadership and/or volunteer management skills; capable of working independently and in team environments; and an understanding, or ability to learn, the impact of domestic family violence on victims and perpetrators.

The position is classified as level 5 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Knowledge and skills in team and/or volunteer management.
  • Sound computer, information management and Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel), and an interest in web-based service delivery programs.
  • Highly developed organisation skills, supporting a clear capability to be self-directed in identifying and meeting work priorities on time.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving and leadership skills including a capacity to undertake program promotional activities in public settings and to lead team processes.
  • Customer focus, outcomes driven with sound knowledge of contractual obligations.
  • Satisfactory Police Check.

A demonstrated experience in social welfare, criminal justice, or community services is desirable but not essential.
