Network is the sector peak and go-to expert for the OOSH sector in NSW, dedicated to supporting Educators, sector leaders, OOSH Providers & key stakeholders. With a mission to empower and support OOSH services across the NSW community, we engage in policy advocacy, provide specialised training, and foster a collaborative network for our members.

Position Overview

As the Membership, Policy & Events Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of Network’s membership engagement, policy-informed advocacy, and event planning efforts. Acting as Network’s public-facing membership lead, you’ll drive initiatives aligned with members' needs and coordinate events that bring the OOSH community together. This role is essential in ensuring our members feel supported, informed, and empowered, with a strong focus on understanding and communicating the regulatory landscape that impacts them.

About you

Are you passionate about supporting the OOSH sector, engaging with members, and planning events that make a real difference? Do you have the skills to lead member engagement and advocacy efforts, along with a deep understanding of Education and Care National Laws and Regulations, policy, and the National Quality Framework?

Are you a natural relationship-builder, confident in public-facing roles, and adept at strategic planning, policy, and event coordination? You’ll excel in this role if you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Proven experience in a membership, advocacy, or policy-focused role within a not-for-profit or community organisation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Education and Care services regulations, policy, and law, with the ability to interpret and communicate these to our members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to effectively represent Network and, as needed, the CEO in high-stakes policy settings.
  • Experience in event planning and member engagement, with a commitment to enhancing member satisfaction.
  • A collaborative approach, with leadership and mentoring abilities to guide team members and align them with organisational goals.
  • Current NSW Working with Children check.

Key Responsibilities

  • Membership Engagement & Policy Advocacy: Lead membership engagement, by implementing strategies informed by regulations pertaining to Out of School Hours., policy, and National Quality Framework. Represent Network, when required, ensuring members’ perspectives are clearly communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Direct Member Support: Provide direct support to members on complex inquiries and issues, delivering assistance via phone and email. Identify and address knowledge gaps by developing resources—such as templates and guides—that help members navigate regulatory requirements and enhance their service delivery.
  • Event Planning & Coordination: Plan and execute events that support members’ professional development and foster sector-wide connections, aligning these activities with Network’s strategic goals.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and OOSH stakeholders, advocating for member interests and expanding Network’s influence in the regulatory landscape.
  • Member Communications & Content Creation: Develop a communication strategy that aligns with advocacy initiatives, producing newsletters, social media updates, and resources that clarify the latest in children’s services policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Team Collaboration & Organisational Support: Support the CEO, collaborate with the Operations Coordinator, and contribute to Network’s broader mission and strategic goals.
