COORDINARE is the Primary Health Network (PHN) for South Eastern NSW, supporting primary care in the region to be person centred, accessible; equitable; safe, comprehensive, population orientated and coordinated across all parts of the health system.
COORDINARE provides a unique blend of private and public perspectives and innovative thinking which aims to ultimately transform the health of people in the region. COORDINARE is a change agent that uses its influence to create a coordinated regional health system, with the ultimate outcome being healthy, resilient communities.
COORDINARE commenced operations as the South Eastern NSW PHN in July 2015 and has a 50,000km footprint from Helensburg in the north, covering large areas of the Traditional Lands of the Yuin, Dharawal, Ngunnawal/Ngambri and the Ngarigo nations, down to the NSW Victorian boarder.
COORDINARE is led by a skills-based board and is comprised of an Independent Chair, 3 member-nominated and 5 independent directors, including the deputy chair. The member-nominated directors bring governance and industry expertise in aged care, education, research and evaluation, and private health insurance. The independent directors bring complementary skill-sets.
The board of directors is seeking a new Chair for a three year renewable term, following the decision of the inaugural chair, Richard Spencer, of six years to step down in September 2021. On average your commitment would be a day a week and is a remunerated position.
PHNs operate in a dynamic and ever-changing health care landscape. They are unique to the Australian health system architecture being among the few organisations required to traverse and serve national, state, and regional agendas. They are increasingly engaged by their primary funder, the Federal Government, in the implementation of major health care reforms and initiatives in areas such as mental health and digital health, disaster and pandemic responses and aged care.
In NSW, PHNs are well placed to play a systemic role in advancing the priorities of the NSW Government in integrated care, collaborative commissioning, value-based care and elevating the human experience.
In this context, and given the leadership and pathfinding role COORDINARE seeks to play, the desirable attributes required of an incoming Chair are:
