The Queensland LGBTQIA+ Alliance is a new, dynamic organisation that will serve as the first statewide peak body for LGBTQIA+ in Queensland. The Alliance will be auspiced and supported by the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health as it transitions to an independent entity.
Born from the collaborative efforts of 16 leading organisations, the Alliance advocates for culturally safe, inclusive, and community-driven solutions to uplift the voices of LGBTQIA+ individuals across Queensland. Through partnerships, community engagement, and advocacy, the Alliance will be a central point for government collaboration and community representation, supporting bodies, genders, communities and identities across the state.
As the founding CEO, you will lead the Alliance through its establishment and growth, developing governance structures, operational systems, and membership pathways. Your role will be pivotal in positioning the Alliance as an independent entity, fostering community connections across Queensland, and advocating for the needs and rights of diverse and geographically spread LGBTQIA+ communities.
You’ll represent the Alliance to government, key sector stakeholders, media and the broader public, advocating for equitable policies and fostering partnerships to build culturally safe, peer-led advocacy and bridge gaps between urban and rural LGBTQIA+ communities across the state.
With an unwavering commitment to cultural safety and focus on inclusiveness and intersectionality, you’ll develop sector capacity initiatives, work to build collective capacity across Alliance members, and build the Alliance’s public profile and communications strategy to enhance visibility.
Being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and LGBTQIA+ community member is pivotal to success in this role. You are a forward-thinking leader who can speak authentically to lived experiences and you’ve developed your career in community focused sectors including health, human rights, social justice or within government.
You have strong leadership experience within LGBTQIA+ or peer-led organisations, with a deep understanding of intersectional issues affecting LGBTQIA+ communities in Queensland. Specifically, you also bring:
