The Organisation

Baptist Care Australia works to bring social justice to Australian communities, advocating nationally on social issues such as homelessness, aged care, child and family welfare and domestic violence. They represent Baptist community service organisations and advocate for their clients in the federal policy debate.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director you will lead the communications function with the primary purpose to increase Baptist Care Australia’s influence in order to shape long term positive change for Australians most vulnerable people.

Key aspects of role include:

  • Ensuring that the website and other communication channels are aligned to purpose
  • Create content, develop and implement a social media strategy and plan
  • Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor sector trends, key data, statistics and policy; providing Baptist Care Australia with evidence based strategic advice
  • Coordinate newly formed member communications group, ensuring that the voices of the people on whose behalf you are advocating are heard and included.

Skills Required

Ideally, you have experience in a similar communications role and extensive knowledge in advocacy, policy and campaign leadership. You have high-level writing skills and have produced content across multiple channels, including digital.

As a creative content specialist with strong storytelling abilities, you can proactively find opportunities to create engaging data-driven, human-interest content to further Baptist Care Australia’s organisational objectives.

You can also demonstrate:

  • Experience with not for profit community benefit agencies, particularly within the aged care, social services, advocacy or the government sector
  • An ability to build respectful working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Capacity to contribute to strategic direction, business planning and policy development
  • Exposure to and interest in developing policy positions and written submissions.
