The Organisation

Equality Australia (EA) is a national LGBTIQ+ organisation, built from the successful ‘Yes’ marriage equality campaign, with the support of the Human Rights Law Centre. EA creates positive legal and social change to ensure LGBTIQ+ people are treated with dignity and respect.

EA works to ensure equality and to alleviate the discrimination and disadvantage LGBTIQ+ communities experience on a daily basis. EA work’s in partnership with affected communities and allies to achieve a fair and inclusive Australia for LGBTIQ+ people, their families and communities.

EA knows their team is most effective when it reflects the diversity of the communities they work with and encourages applicants from LGBTIQ+ communities, particularly transgender, non-binary and intersex people, and from a diverse range of ethnicities, language groups, abilities, religious backgrounds and experiences.

The Role

As development manager you’ll work with a small dynamic team to build a sustainable and impactful organisation. With the support of the board and CEO you will execute the endorsed fundraising strategy to secure multi-year philanthropic investment supplemented by corporate sponsorship and in-kind support. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Oversee the stewardship of existing donors, facilitating touchpoints
  • Identify and cultivate donor prospects and deliver intimate donor events
  • Develop, launch and manage a bequest program
  • Execute online campaigns leveraging existing donor commitments

Skills Required

In your career you have been responsible for the delivering of financial targets with a commitment to high standards of ethical and professional conduct. Ideally that experience has been developed within fundraising, philanthropy, university development, sponsorship, education, training or a values-driven commercial career.

You have an evidence-based approach and future-oriented perspective in developing plans and programs combined with the ability to work independently. You also have the following;

  • The ability to think creatively and analytically to solve problems and leverage opportunities
  • A commitment to diversity and an ability to understand the challenges of discrimination and trauma 

While you do have a successful track record in a sales focussed role, formal education and qualifications matter less to us than excellence, experience, initiative, a positive attitude and drive.
