The Organisation

MS Australia is the leading national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to multiple sclerosis (MS) research, advocacy, and education. MS Australia empowers researchers to find ways to treat, prevent, and cure MS, while advocating for systemic policy changes and champion for Australia's MS community. There are currently over 33,000 people living with MS across Australia and on average more than 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS each week.

MS Australia collaborates with and represents state and territory MS Member Organisations to drive essential research and advocacy. These member organisations fund the national and international MS research and advocacy agenda. They depend on MS Australia to provide evidence-based information, ensuring that people living with MS, their carers, families, and the wider community have access to the best resources and services.

The Role

The strategic partnerships manager plays a crucial role in cultivating and stewarding relationships with government funders, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners. This position uses data insights to tailor communications and proposals, demonstrating the impact of supporters' generosity.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the heads of advocacy and research, you will develop and execute the donor relationship strategy, develop ongoing processes, forecast income streams, and report against defined KPIs.

Additionally, you will:

  • Build ongoing relationships that deliver funding opportunities.
  • Develop tailored proposals and pitch to donors/funders.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Manage the grant application and acquittal program.

Skills Required

This role is suited to a hands-on fundraising or corporate partnerships professional experienced in engaging with senior stakeholders across government and private sectors. You are a natural relationship builder who utilises data to implement engagement strategies and has previous success nurturing relationships resulting in significant fundraising income.

Your creative and innovative thinking, business acumen and ability to reach targets is complimented by your collaborative approach gained from major gift and/or philanthropic fundraising, corporate partnerships, or a business development background.
