This is a dynamic job covering a wide variety of functions and operations from strategic and budget planning to management and administration of community services, funded programs, tourism and indigenous development.

If you have recently completed a Graduate Diploma or Degree in Business Management and want kick-start your career toward senior executive roles in larger corporations this is for you. We are about to embark on our next 5 year strategic plan to improve and expand our services to build more capability, employment and opportunities for our Adnyamathanha people and take care of country.

The job includes salary packaging and fully furnished air-conditioned home, telephone, electricity, internet and 30 days annual leave.

ABOUT US – UNIQUE HISTORY OF INDIGENOUS EMPOWERMENT

Nepabunna (Nipapanha) is about 65kms east of Leigh Creek in the picturesque Northern Flinders Ranges South Australia on Adnyamathanha traditional lands.

We are responsible for the Nantiwarrina Indigenous Protected Area, the first and oldest declared IPA in Australia which celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year. NCAC’s responsibility includes conservation and cultural management of resources and delivery of the Indigenous Ranger Program (“IRP”). NCAC employs a full-time Land Management Co-ordinator and a team of rangers to manage the IPA and IRP programs.

We also deliver essential services to the local community including housing and municipal services and facilitate delivery of health services by Pika Wiya and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.  

Other infrastructure we manage include the adjacent airstrip, road upgrades and tourist facilities.

A range of tourist accommodation is owned by us and used by universities, schools and individuals.  Cultural tours are available and walking tracks and campsites within the IPA are also managed by us.

ABOUT YOU – PEOPLE-ORIENTED, AMBITIOUS, RESILiENT SELF-STARTER

Whilst the remoteness and beauty of the location is iconic, it requires a general manager who is resilient, adaptive and a self-starter.

You must have a Graduate Diploma or Degree in Business Management with a competent understanding of operations encompassing governance and compliance, financial management and budgeting, human resources and service delivery. Due to the variety of the job, you must be resilient and adaptive with excellent inter-personal and communication skills.  

High order management, planning and organisational skills, record keeping and problem solving skills are essential foundations for our sustainability and growth.  

Our leadership is through a progressive and cohesive Board of Directors. The General Manager is expected to work closely with our Board and proactively and collaboratively with our advisers and stakeholders. SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A Graduate Diploma or degree in Business Management or relevant experience and working towards formal qualification
  • Demonstrated understanding of governance and compliance requirements of not-for-profit corporations
  • Demonstrated experience in formal reporting, financial management, budgeting, human resources and records management
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and relationship management
  • Demonstrated experience in managing delivery of services and projects such as community housing and municipal services
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying funding sources to support and complement NCAC services and programs
  • Willingness to live and work in remote aboriginal community
