THE ROLE

The role of Senior Policy Officer requires conceptual, analytical and written communication skills. In addition, the role requires proven project management, stakeholder consultation and contract management skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

To be successful, a person in this role will be self-motivated, have a flexible work approach, be able to work effectively in distributed team arrangements across geographical locations, and want to gain wide ranging experience as part of a small agency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and facilitating formal and ongoing engagement.
• Managing project administration and implementation to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes within agreed timeframes.
• Planning, procuring and managing the effective and efficient conduct of projects, consultancies or contracts to support the development of reports, including working with the Engagement & Communications team on the publication process and release of reports.
• Undertaking analysis to inform submissions, monitoring and reporting, and understanding across a range of topics related to the mental health system.
• Preparation of high-level briefs, submissions, discussion papers, correspondence and presentations to support the information needs of the Executive and Commissioners.
• Provision of secretariat support function and events management.
• Working flexibly and effectively across projects and teams in the Commission, including input into policy and strategy work.
• Effective records and information management.
• Other duties as required.
