Nursing & Midwifery Health Program Victoria
  • Part-time

Would you like to contribute to the health and well-being of Victorian nurses, midwives and students?

Would you like to operate within a clinical team to achieve positive health outcomes for service users?

Would you like an opportunity to develop and grow with NMHPV?

We are an organisation designed by nurses, led by nurses, and delivered by nurses and midwives committed exclusively to the health, wellbeing and resilience of nurses, midwives and nursing and midwifery students. We operate within a health and wellbeing framework incorporating prevention, intervention, and restoration.

We sensitively support individuals through one-to-one counselling and assist with access to specialist referral partners for any sensitive health concern which will promote the individual’s health, wellbeing and resilience and reduce the risks to those who use nursing and midwifery services.

We are seeking registered nurses and/or midwives to work within a small and dedicated clinical team to deliver sensitive health support to our Victorian peers. These roles will also include engagement with industry stakeholders across Victoria. The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to maintaining the health  of the nursing and midwifery professions and possess keen insights into the professions first-hand. They will have excellent communication skills with a proven ability to form authentic relationships.

The responsibilities in these key roles include:

  • Effectively deliver individual counselling care and support to the nurses, midwives and students seeking support and assistance with their sensitive health concerns.
  • Facilitating the intake of callers seeking support, including assessing their individual needs and allocating the appropriate support.
  • Participate in the delivery of group programs and services offered to service users and other stakeholders within the professions.
  • Participate in information sharing of NMHPV and associated health messaging with a broad range of profession stakeholders.
  • Participate in assisting and supporting employers and health services to promote NMHPV services to their workforce.

To be successful in the role, you will have the following:

  • Qualification in nursing and/or midwifery and registered with Ahpra, ideally with post-graduate experience in counselling, the mental health sector or alcohol and drug-related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in the professions, along with supporting others within the professions, and a clear understanding of the challenges faced by those in the nursing and midwifery workforce.
  • Ability to lead groups of peers in addressing sensitive health issues and seeking positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage nurses and midwives with care, empathy and compassion.
  • Be self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously within a team setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the professional status of the nursing and midwifery workforce and maximising health opportunities for those within the professions.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills and an ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders. Experience working within staff health and wellbeing programs would be highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection and recording.

In return, we offer the exciting opportunity to work within an organisation which positively impacts the health of nurses, midwives and students in the sector.

NMHPV encourages people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people with disabilities.

All offers of employment will require security checks, include a six month probation period, proof of entitlement to work in Australia and disclosure of any pre-existing illnesses or injuries that may affect the work required of them.
