The Northern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) is a dynamic not-for-profit community legal centre operating in one of the fastest growing areas of Melbourne, with a catchment including the Merri-bek, Hume and Mitchell Shire Local Government Areas. The NCLC operates from a central office located in Broadmeadows with outreach clinics and programs in other service areas. NCLC’s growing, passionate and skilled team of 23 staff including a Community Development team of 6, provide community legal education, community development, advice, casework, and administrative support to priority clients, including victims of family violence.

The recent expansion of integrated family violence prevention and response projects including; The Safe Landing Project; North West Enhancement Pathways health justice project and the Young Women’s Economic Empowerment project has led to the opportunity to appoint this position

This is a part-time, 4 day per week position.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working under the supervision of NCLC’s Partnerships & Community Development Manager and with the family violence project teams this position will be responsible for providing the community engagement, community legal education, client support for three funded family violence projects: NCLC’s Safe Landing Project which responds to the migration and family violence related legal and support needs of women residing on temporary visas in Australia, the North-West Enhanced Pathways Project which has implemented a partnership model with maternal child health services across our catchments and Young Women’s Economic Empowerment project.

ABOUT YOU

You have qualifications in teaching, social sciences, community work, social work or other relevant qualifications with a demonstrated knowledge of, and sensitivity to, victims/survivors of family violence and the family violence sector and a commitment to trauma-informed practice principles and family strengthening and empowerment models of practice.

REMUNERATION

Salary range from $93,860 pro rata per annum SCHCADS Award depending on experience, plus employer funded superannuation. In addition, generous salary packaging is available (including access to Accommodation and Meal Entertainment packaging).

LOCATION

Our office is based in Broadmeadows and NCLC services the council areas of Hume, Merri-bek and Mitchell. There may be the possibility to work flexibly from home as negotiated with the Partnerships & Community Development Manager.
