Social Media and Fundraising Coordinator

NSW Hen Rescue

NSW Hen Rescue was founded in 2010 with the aim of liberating, rehabilitating and rehoming hens from battery cages. We also rescue other animals from factory farms and those who are unwanted or abandoned.

We are a small, vegan organisation made up of mostly volunteers with a strong focus on the importance of the individual lives we save.

Social media is an incredibly important part of our work as it enables us to share the stories of the animals, fundraise to enable us to continue our work, as well as promote veganism as a way to make the world a kinder place for animals. There have been some big, exciting changes at the rescue lately which have made things busier than usual and harder for the founder to keep up with social media. This has resulted in a drop in donations which are essential to continue our work and keep getting girls out of cages.

We are looking for a creative and social media savvy person to join the team on a casual basis. The first month would be approx 35 hours per week and is based from home with one day a week spent at the Southern Highlands Hen Haven for content creation (1.5 hours from Sydney. Travel expenses reimbursed).

About this role:

  • Use your knowledge of existing social media trends across all platforms (Facebook, Insta, YouTube, Tik Tok, website) to plan content for the organisation
  • Establish a TikTok account and schedule content
  • Use your weekly day at the Hen Haven to gather footage and photos for content creation, working closely with the founder and volunteers
  • Edit videos and other content ready for posting
  • Identify and implement fundraising opportunities across all social media platforms
  • Assist with additional fundraising and digital media work as required e.g running weekly Facebook auctions

Selection Criteria:

  • Dedication to animal rights, animal liberation and veganism
  • Demonstrated skill in content creation including video editing
  • Excellent communication skills to enable us to work effectively as a team whilst working mostly from home
  • Proven understanding of social media management and strategy
  • Proven skill working with TikTok
  • Own transport to get to Southern Highlands once a week
  • Fundraising experience

If you would like to be a part of making the world a kinder place for animals, we would love to hear from you.
