About the Role

The Copy Editor/Writer is responsible for sub editing the content, accuracy, layout and design of articles and documents within Federation’s style guide. The role will include researching and writing/re-writing articles for print and digital publications.

We currently have a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position available.

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to clearly demonstrate the following essential skills and experience: (Desired only if in italics)

  • A tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Experience in content development, copy writing, copy/sub editing or professional proofing
  • Knowledge of best practice content principles for print, web, social media and email marketing
  • Excellent copywriting, sub editing and storytelling abilities across a range of mediums and platforms
  • Excellent understanding of English, particularly grammar, spelling and syntax
  • Excellent writing skills including high level professional writing and sub editing/proofreading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including conducting interviews.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, planning and organising skills and the ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Office 365, and a working knowledge of XML and/or HTML Proficiency using Adobe InCopy and publishing software, Office 365, project management software and other databases
  • Experience working with magazine and print
  • Proven ability to work flexibly within both the culture in a work team and the process by which tasks are accomplished
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise initiative and judgment
  • Positive attitude to unionism
  • Awareness of WHS policies and procedures
