Redress is support that acknowledges the harm done to people as children and it holds institutions and Government accountable.

Nunkuwarrin Yunti provides free advice and help to complete an application for Redress as well as offering access to counselling, healing support and clinical services.

Nunkuwarrin Yunti places a strong focus on a client centred approach to the delivery of services and a collaborative working culture to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients. It provides holistic therapeutic case management and case work services to individuals and/or families, inclusive of but not limited to issues of grief & loss, depression, domestic & family violence, child protection and any other issues which impact on social and emotional wellbeing.

The Redress and Link-Up SA team provide in-reach services to the state of South Australia through our strong partnerships with other organisations and outreach visits where required.

About the Role:

The primary role of the Case Manager, Redress Support Services is and not limited to:

  • Contribute to the effective delivery of the Redress Support Services.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive range of social support networks to assist with accessible and equitable pathways for Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander individuals and families seeking appropriate services.
  • Provide quality therapeutic case management to people who have been impacted by institutional childhood sexual abuse.
  • Provide trauma informed support, information and referral to facilitate client wellbeing.
  • Apply person centred and strengths – based approaches to working with clients to develop goals and work towards outcomes. Support clients to engage with inclusive, client driven case management (short and longer term) for people with complex and/or multiple social health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other internal staff to assist individuals and families build strong and sustainable futures through integrated case management, coordination and knowledge of services, community linkages, social support, advocacy and referral.
  • Ensure compliance with all organisational and service requirements, including record keeping data entry and reporting.
  • Promotion of the services through networking, education and presentations to ensure the continued visibility of the service and ongoing referrals from other agencies. 
  • Additional periodic or ongoing activities that may arise during the tenure of the role to meet client needs or otherwise as requested of the team manager.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • Minimum of Certificate IV in a recognised and relevant qualification i.e. Torres Strait Islander Primary Health (Community Care), Community Services, Social Work or similar or working towards completion of a relevant qualification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family and community dynamics and kinship systems and social and emotional wellbeing issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging proactively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical frameworks for providing crisis, trauma, victim’s case management and counselling delivering trauma informed practice in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated client focus using a high standard of interpersonal communications skills including the ability to resolve conflict, problem solve and de-escalate emotionally charged situations;
  • Experienced around issues of childhood trauma, abuse and its trigger; ensure client safety, can quickly establish rapport, respect and trust with clients.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and is able to maintain confidentiality, ability to self-care.
